Rare Drams specialise in providing rare whiskies from the Douglas Laing Group. The OLD MALT CASK range are whiskies taken from a single cask, always matured in Oak barrels. These Oak barrels could have held Bourbon or Sherry prior to being filled with new stilled spirit, leaving their tasting influence on the finished palate. We offer over 100 whiskies from Scotland's distilleries. Some of the Whiskies we provide are from Distilleries which no longer exist "The Lost Distilleries" ( such as Port Ellen, Rosebank, St Magdalene ) but their casks remain untouched and ready for bottling, when Stewart or Fred Laing thinks the time is right. These Single Cask bottlings are bottled at 50%, know as the "golden strength" , and represent the Lowlands, Highlands & Islands of Scotland. The Malt whisky retains the individual flavours & nuances extracted from sitting maturing many years in the Oak casks. Only the whisky from a single cask is used for these bottlings and therefore the flavours, smells and finishes are unique, a truly "one off".
